220 square metres, 91 photovoltaic panels for 72 people at a time. Because a canteen is also a place of encounter and exchange.

“We wanted to transform a purely functional place, such as a canteen, into a place of encounter and exchange. Because eating together is an activity that brings people together and is an ideal time for team building.” This is how Giancarlo and Andrea Vimercati explain the main reason why they decided to create a new facility to host, in shifts, the lunch break of their employees. 

Thus the Vimercate-based firm, Architetti Resch Associati, began the planning and long bureaucratic phase that led to the construction of the canteen located in the area next to the company car park.

A modular, streamlined and simple project that solved the need to give people more space. It has an eating area for 24 people which includes a kitchenette for warming up and cooking food brought from home, and a canteen for 48 people with a self-service counter where a catering company provides food on a daily basis.

The numbers speak for themselves: 220 square metres obtained by joining 15 prefabricated modules, each weighing 1,400 kg for a total weight of 18,200 kg.

“Pilot Italia is very committed to both environmental and social issues. This is why we have installed 91 photovoltaic panels on the roof of the building, which can produce around 38 kwp of power at full capacity. We are therefore completely self-sufficient. The structure is also defined as accessible, that is, without architectural barriers.”
